Sustainability Officer

About the position

We are looking for experienced candidates to join our Strategy & Sustainability team. This senior role offers a lot of exposure to the company’s leadership team and collaboration with our Japanese head office while driving our sustainability agenda across corporate insurance lines including Property, Casualty, and Marine insurance.

While our company is formally headquartered in Belgium (Brussels), we operate very flexibly through a multi-location concept. This means that applicants from various other countries in the region (Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany) are also welcome to apply and work from one of our international offices. The director that you will reporting to is based in The Netherlands.

Key Responsibilities

You will be a key player in the central team that has the following responsibilities:

Regulatory Compliance & Reporting

• Preparing annual CSRD sustainability statement and other regulatory sustainability reports
• Monitoring evolving EU sustainability regulations and ensure organizational compliance
• Maintaining accurate sustainability data collection and reporting systems, to support both regulatory reporting and internal management reporting and decision making

Strategy Development & Implementation

• Developing and helping to implement and update the sustainability strategy in alignment with the corporate strategy, company missions and vision and business objectives
• Collaborating with the Strategy and Sustainability Director and the broader leadership team to integrate sustainability into corporate planning and business decisions, set targets and KPIs and monitor progress against them
• Helping launch various initiatives and projects relating to sustainability and ESG throughout the organisation

Stakeholder Engagement & Awareness

• Designing and implementing communication programs to raise sustainability awareness across the organisation and to our partners and external stakeholders
• Fostering a culture of sustainability focus throughout the organization
• Working collaboratively within the sustainability team while maintaining independent project ownership

Business Integration

• Partnering with colleagues in the business teams to integrate sustainability and ESG considerations into product development, client risk assessments and client dialogues
• Supporting our investments team in implementing sustainable investment policies
• Maintaining regular communication with our Japanese Group head office on global sustainability alignment
