(Senior) Sustainable Finance Officer (ESG & Regulations)

The (Senior) Sustainable Finance Officer reports to the Manager Impact. He or she is part of a team of officers and advisors with different and complementary expertise in FMO’s relevant sustainability and impact areas, such as development finance, environmental and social risk management, natural capital, climate, gender, inclusive business, digital inclusion, and human rights.

The (Senior) Sustainable Finance Officer for ESG & Regulations is expected to support FMO’s strategic agenda and provide content knowledge on the adoption and implementation of regulations and international best practice related to sustainability, environmental and social risk management, impact, and the interaction of these with business development and due diligence process for FMO.

It is expected that the (Senior) Sustainable Finance Officer will drive, translate, and guide the incorporation of standards and regulations into FMO’s business process both with the investment departments and ESG officers. The focus and thematic areas of this role will be defined based on annual workplans and internal demand; and evaluated overtime.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the implementation of sustainable regulations like the EU Taxonomy, SFDR, etc. throughout the organisation and provide guidance for FMO’s investment departments and the Impact and ESG Department on how best to incorporate new requirements in existing process and policy;
  • Supporting FMO’s ambition and direction on our contribution to the SDGs and keeping our Sustainability Policy in line with national and international best practice;
  • Overseeing and providing advice and support to investment teams, initiatives and projects across FMO departments (e.g. Risk, Credit, Investment teams) on the implementation of our Sustainability Policy, regulations and requirements;
  • Supporting organisational change projects, managing different internal stakeholders, and providing technical and expert leadership and direction;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key service providers and external advisors (e.g. NGOs, consultancies etc) that could bring expertise and support our mandate and responsibilities.
    Engaging with FMO partners and key stakeholders and representing FMO in events;
  • You will also have an important role in educating, motivating and coaching colleagues across departments.
