THE ROLE

The purpose of Group Sustainability is to provide direction to the Damen organization to create, implement and manage a sustainability strategy that meets the organization’s objective to become the most Sustainable Shipbuilder in the World. Group Control contributes to this objective in gathering, analyzing and reporting reliable and meaningful information (both internal and external).

The Sustainability Reporting Specialist (as part of Group Control) contributes to coordinating and communicating sustainability performance and reporting. This includes engaging with various company stakeholders to ensure compliance with new CSRD reporting requirements, as well as collaborating with the Group Sustainability Director, Group Supply Chain and other Group Functions. Additionally, your responsibilities entail active participation in sustainability work groups.

Furthermore, the Sustainability Reporting Specialist will support in putting plans and policies into action to ensure the organization meets its sustainability goals and follows relevant sustainability regulations. This involves managing sustainability projects, initiatives, programs, and overseeing and reporting on progress towards corporate and social responsibility objectives.

This role demands close coordination with internal and external stakeholders across Sales, Research & Development, Divisions, Design and Proposal, Operations, Supply chain, HR, Compliance, HSSEQ, and Yard organizations. The Sustainability Reporting Specialist reports directly to the Group Financial Controller.

The ideal candidate should have a genuine passion for sustainability and reporting and a desire to make a positive impact on the maritime industry. He or she should be capable of working independently as well as part of a team, possess strong interpersonal skills, and be able to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Implement and monitor the new CSRD requirements;
  • Manage and implement sustainable financial and non-financial reporting; requirements, including collecting and analyzing relevant data;
  • Support in implementing sustainability policies, plans and procedures;
  • Collaborating with various departments and stakeholders to achieve sustainability objectives;
  • Assisting in the development and management of sustainability projects, programs, and initiatives;
  • Contributing to compliance and assurance with relevant sustainability regulations and standards;
  • Assist in preparation of reports on sustainability initiatives and performance;
  • Assist in the external audit of the CSRD reporting.
