European Cocoa Association

Responsibilities:

 

1.    Coordination of the ECA Working Group on “Environment” and on “Trade”

·        Monitoring and reporting on environmental and trade regulatory developments at EU and cocoa producing countries level

·        Drafting joint industry positions, statements, briefings for the ECA members

·        Liaison with key stakeholders (EU Institutions, International Organizations and other Industry Associations, Embassies of cocoa producing countries)

·        Coordinating with the environmental and trade research community

·        Initiate proposals for ECA action on environmental and trade aspects of interest to the membership

·        Work together with the ECA Task Force on Sustainability on joint topics

 

2.    Information and Communication

·        Drafting ECA newsletters and other information materials on environmental issues (Life Cycle Assessment, Circular economy, Bio economy, Food waste, Product Environmental Footprint and Organizational Environmental Footprint, including PEFCRs and OEFSRs methods, Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS), CO2 reduction, 2020 Sulphur Cap, etc) and on trade (FTAs, EPAs, Rules of Origin, etc)

·        Presenting on behalf of the association to external audiences

·        Assisting in organising and coordinating meetings, conferences, events gathering industry representatives and key supply-chain partners

 

Key requirements

·        Advanced university degree in a relevant field (e.g. EU Affairs, Environmental and/or Trade Affairs)

·        Knowledge of the EU Environmental and Trade policy

·        Experience in EU and international environmental and trade  policy monitoring/formulation, preferably within an industry association or the EU institutions

·        Experience in producing communication materials tailored to different audiences, and in drafting concise reports, briefings and position papers

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

·        Additional EU languages (e.g. French, Spanish) are a strong asset

·        Very good command of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

·        Ability to plan and prioritise multiple and varied tasks in a small team, and to work independently

·        Availability to travel occasionally within Europe
