Webinar: Access to remedy: Ensuring Accessibility of Grievance Mechanisms

An effective grievance mechanism is more than just a compliance tool it is a crucial pathway for stakeholders to raise concerns and seek remedies for human rights and environmental impacts. However, many existing mechanisms struggle with accessibility, making it difficult for affected individuals and communities to use them effectively.

Accessibility is one of the eight key effectiveness criteria outlined in Principle 31 of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs). Yet, common barriers such as language obstacles, lack of awareness, fear of retaliation, and technical limitations often prevent grievance mechanisms from fulfilling their intended role.

With the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) introducing new obligations for companies, ensuring accessibility is no longer optional—it is essential.

This webinar will shed light on these challenges and provide practical insights on how companies can design and implement grievance mechanisms that are truly accessible, inclusive, and effective.
