Sustainability Risk Officer

We are looking for a Sustainability Risk Officer to join our dynamic global second-line Enterprise Risk team in Amsterdam.

These are transformative times for Adyen; we are rapidly growing in new countries and are also broadening our product offering through our embedded financial products. With this growth in mind, our goal on sustainability is to play a leading role in accelerating business’s positive impact on social and environmental responsibility.

We are looking for a risk manager that strengthens and builds out the strategic & business risk capacity within our technology company, specialising in Sustainability. This is where you come in.

You have a proactive mindset, you are eager to learn and you are looking for an opportunity that allows you to take ownership and autonomously translate a vision into practice. While you will contribute to the strategic & product risk team’s overall deliverables, your initial focus will be in the Sustainability risk domain. Together with the first-line teams you will be building out the sustainability risk framework and processes, supporting Adyen’s sustainability strategy, and helping in scaling new products within Adyen’s product suite.

Adyen has a flat organizational structure and limited management layers, so having expertise  means independence combined with ownership in conceptualizing and building these solutions yourself. Adyen is a fast-moving place, offering plenty of opportunity to broaden your profile in other risk domains.

What you’ll do

• Build out the Adyen sustainability risk framework together with the respective first-line teams by translating external requirements (e.g. EU Omnibus, ESG risk guidelines, CSDDD) into new processes, monitoring and mitigation strategies;
• Independently challenge and support the scaling of Adyen’s sustainability strategy; identify key risk indicators that you will use in monitoring and steering sustainability risk;
• Contribute to Adyen’s story on sustainability from a risk perspective with merchants, supervisors, and other stakeholders;
• Contribute in risk management activities in the strategic & product risk team; risk governance, global risk assessments, and risk appetite setting;
• Represent the strategic & product risk team in relevant Adyen-wide initiatives;
