COO Risk sits right at the heart of the Bank’s operations. We translate our rather complex banking business exposures into impact on risk weighted assets and provisions in line with the constantly changing business desires and the latest regulatory requirements. We also provide important insights in NFR and Compliance topics and cater for corresponding regulatory reporting needs. COO Risk delivers baseline and change activities for the Risk Organization with the purpose to drive our partners to maximize value in a safe & compliant environment. We play a critical role at ING and service all business lines, CROs and COOs of the Bank. COO Risk is committed to take explicit ownership of the end-to-end execution of regulatory transformation initiatives.

Role and Responsibilities

As Product Lead ESG Data Analysis & Modelling, you will be responsible to process complex data demand in a global environment. With your team, ensure ESG data requirements are:

  • Optimized & challenged to avoid unnecessary data demands,
  • Validated through sign-off by report owners, and
  • Modelled by aligning with global business definitions.

You raise urgency and alignment with both group and local (senior) stakeholders, ensuring timely and effective delivery. In your role as product lead, you will be part of the ESG Tribe MT.

Data Analysis & Modelling

You lead the development and application of ESG data analysis and modelling practices. This includes:

  • Translating regulatory and business requirements into structured data definitions.
  • Ensuring consistent use of global business terms across locations.
  • Building and maintaining a high-quality ESG data model that supports reporting and decision-making.
  • Establishing a centre of excellence for ESG data, fostering innovation and best practices in data modelling.

Strategic Planning & Transformation

You are responsible for:

  • Developing reliable, long-term planning in collaboration with ESG report owners, local delivery teams, and central ingestion.
  • Continuously enhancing roadmaps to reflect evolving priorities.
  • Leading transformation initiatives related to the IT landscape (e.g. FRIDA Exchange, EWM) and advising on ESG-related changes across and within locations.
  • Proactively scanning for regulatory and business developments and translating them into actionable insights.

Capability Building & People Leadership

You will:

  • Establish and lead the ESG Data Analysis & Modelling Product Group, defining its goals, structure, and stakeholder engagement model.
  • Build a high-performing, geographically dispersed team recognized as a centre of excellence.
  • Attract top talent, foster a safe and high-performance culture, and provide clear strategic direction.
  • Stimulate OHI participation and act on its outcomes to continuously improve team effectiveness.

Stakeholder Engagement & Influence

You develop strong relationships across group functions, locations, and Wholesale Banking. You are recognized for your:

  • Deep expertise in ESG data and reporting,

You build a robust network of Product Leads, Cluster Leads, and Tribe Management to support ESG data analysis, validation, and modelling.
