About Your Role

Fairphone exists to change the electronics industry by creating products that are more ethical, longer-lasting, and lower impact. To do this credibly, we rely on environmental data that is trusted, decision-ready, and grounded in reality.

The Product LCA & Impact Analyst ensures the accuracy, consistency, and usability of the data behind our product footprints, including acting as the first-line steward for all inputs to our Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs). By improving data quality and translating results into clear insights, the role helps teams understand where impacts come from and how design and sourcing choices can reduce them.

This role focuses on data quality, analysis, and insights. Full LCA modeling is conducted by dedicated specialists or external partners. Positioned at the intersection of sustainability, product development, and sourcing, it ensures LCA is not just a reporting exercise, but a practical tool that supports Fairphone’s mission to build more sustainable electronics.

Key Responsibilities & Objectives

Key Objectives

  • Ensure high-quality, consistent, and reliable data inputs for environment/sustainability frameworks, particularly product LCAs,
  • Identify environmental impact hotspots and provide actionable insights to reduce product footprints,
  • Improve the accuracy of footprint calculations by transitioning from generic to supplier-specific data,
  • Enable product teams to make informed, lower-impact design and sourcing decisions,
  • Enable the Impact and Innovation Team to make informed and strategic decisions on impact innovation activities.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Act as first-line steward for all LCA input data across products, spare parts, and accessories,
  • Collect, validate, and structure primary and secondary environmental data from suppliers and internal teams,
  • Analyze LCA results to identify key environmental impact drivers and improvement opportunities,
  • Translate findings into practical recommendations for product design and sourcing and impact innovation activities,
  • Maintain and continuously improve internal LCA datasets, documentation, and assumptions,
  • Collaborate with external LCA partners and review modeling results for plausibility and consistency
  • Support broader sustainability initiatives (circularity, longevity, fair materials, nature) with robust environmental data.

Core Activities

  • Reviewing and validating data used in LCAs (materials, components, weights, processes),
  • Making sure assumptions are consistent across products, spare parts, and accessories,
  • Identifying where data quality is weak and helping improve it over time,
  • Analyzing LCA results to understand what really drives environmental impact at material and component level,
  • Turning complex LCA outcomes and other data into clear insights for product managers, engineers, project managers, and leadership.

You will also spend time on future-focused data improvement, such as:

  • Researching better public datasets relevant to the electronics industry,
  • Assessing supplier-specific data when it becomes available,
  • Helping shift from generic datasets toward more accurate, product-specific inputs.
