As the ESG Specialist, you will play a key role in developing, implementing, and managing our company’s ESG strategy. You will be responsible for ensuring that our business operations align with the highest standards of environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and governance practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and stakeholder engagement.

How can you help us?

1. ESG strategy development:

  • Support in the development and implementation of a comprehensive ESG strategy for Europe aligned with the company’s values, goals, and industry practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ESG considerations into business plans, products, and practices.
  • The role’s main function will relate to Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and Green House Gas (GHG) inventory, but there will also be opportunities and/or at times necessary to support wider ESG activities.

2. Product life cycle assessment:

  • Oversee and manage Medline Europe’s approach to LCAs.
  • Conduct LCAs for products, processes, and systems, following established methodologies and guidelines.
  • Collect and analyse data related to energy consumption, raw material usage, emissions, waste generation, and other environmental indicators throughout the life cycle of products or processes.
  • Select and utilise LCA software tools and databases to model environmental impacts and assess sustainability metrics.
  • Interpret LCA results to identify environmental hotspots, prioritise improvement opportunities, and develop recommendations for reducing environmental impact.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, supply chain, and business stakeholders, to integrate sustainability principles into product design, development, and decision-making processes.
  • Communicate LCA findings effectively to customers, internal teams, and external stakeholders through written reports, presentations, and other mediums.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends, methodologies, and regulations related to life cycle assessment, sustainability, and environmental management.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on LCAs, providing guidance, training, and support to internal teams as needed.

3.Corporate GHG inventory:

  • Support the development and implementation of our internal carbon accounting programme, including conducting carbon inventories and greenhouse gas (GHG) assessments for our operations.
  • Collect, analyse, and track data on energy consumption, fuel usage, waste generation, and other sources of GHG emissions across our facilities and activities.
  • Utilise carbon accounting software tools and databases to calculate our organisation’s carbon footprint, including Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions.
  • Identify opportunities for emission reduction and sustainability improvements within our operations and develop and implement strategies to achieve our carbon reduction targets.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including facilities managers, procurement teams, and finance departments, to integrate sustainability principles into decision-making processes and operational practices.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to carbon accounting, emissions reporting, and sustainability standards.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations to communicate our carbon inventory results, emission reduction progress, and sustainability initiatives to senior management and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal teams on sustainability initiatives, carbon reduction strategies, and best practices for environmental management.
  • Support internal sustainability communication and employee engagement efforts to raise awareness and promote sustainable practices across the organisation
