ASML

Introduction to the job

As an innovation leader in the semiconductor industry, ASML wants to take its responsibility and be a top performer on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Sustainability. We are on a journey to have a Greenhouse Gas neutral value chain by 2040 and to have zero waste from our operations to landfill and incineration by 2030.

In addition, we want to provide an attractive workplace for all our employees, contribute to an innovation ecosystem and be a valued partner in our communities. To achieve these ambitious goals, we are transforming our organization to fully anchor ESG Sustainability in the way we do business.

Are you a strategic thinker who is able to independently and effectively work in a broad network of senior business stakeholders to build longer-term strategies, roadmaps and execution plans? Do you have what it takes to translate these interesting ideas into tangible improvements that help us to become a more circular business, with that reduce the amount of waste, increase our reuse and recycling rates, and ensure we get grip on our material inflow?

If yes – we welcome you to apply for this position in our team!

Role and responsibilities

Your mission is focused on (but not limited to!) our Environmental Sustainability Themes, Energy Efficiency & Climate Action, and Circular Economy. Help ASML succeed in its ambition for both themes, with ambitious target years!

Over the past years, we already succeeded in substantially reducing our emissions and the amount of waste we generate, and now need to scale up efforts to achieve further reductions.

On climate, we aim to become Greenhouse Gas neutral by:

  • Reduce: avoid emissions by reducing the use of energy (or materials)
  • Renew: for our remaining energy need, use renewable sources
  • Compensate: for our remaining emissions, use offsets through selected projects

On circular economy, we aim to eliminate waste by:

  • Prevent by ensuring our designs and the way we source supports our ambition
  • Extend lifetime & productivity of system to maximize resource value
  • Reuse resources within our own value chain, to minimize product related waste streams
  • Recycle materials to give resources a new life, if we can no longer reuse resources ourselves

In this context, in close collaboration with teams across ASML, your responsibilities will be to:

  • Co-lead the work to mature parts of both our Climate and Circular Economy vision, strategic/material topics, and KPI framework
  • Ensure our Climate Transition Plan (CTP) is well-implemented, and an equivalent plan is developed for circular economy
  • Identify improvement opportunities, develop strategic roadmaps and drive initiatives, across our emission categories and waste streams
  • Collaborate with our Sector/Business Line stakeholders to (1) embed and prioritize the work needed to accelerate progress and (2) further detail the identified improvement opportunities to reduce emissions and waste
  • Update and maintain our policies
