The primary objective of this Royal Awards for Sustainability award is to raise awareness of the benefits and unrealised potential of responsible investment approaches for the mainstream financial community and their clients, the retail and institutional investors. Consequently, the award winning companies will need to demonstrate that responsible investment strengthens their bottom line, builds a loyal investor client base, increases their standing within local communities, and creates a competitive advantage for them in global markets.
The Royal Awards for Sustainability is an independent organisation, with close links to the European Environment Agency. The award will be presented at an international ceremony during the UN Environment Programme Finance Initiatives 2003 Global Roundtable in Tokyo, on 21 October 2003.
