After a 2 year multi-stakeholder consultation on CSR from 2002-2004, the Enterprise and Employment & Social affairs Departments (Directorates General) of the European Commission have informally announced that the first ever communication issued jointly by two departments will be launched on the 22nd March.
The Communication will recognise the primary role of business in creating sustainable growth for Europe’s economy and the voluntary nature of CSR as a key contribution to sustainable development, innovation and competitiveness.
Businesses interested in engaging in a more structured dialogue with the Commission on CSR, growth, jobs and better regulation will have the opportunity to meet with Senior officials through a new Alliance with business.
