In support of its long-term commitment to the circular economy, Desso, a leading global carpet and sports pitches company has appointed Robert-Jan van Ogtrop (58), founder of ‘Circle Economy’ to its supervisory board. ‘Circle Economy’ is a non-profit open platform that aims to accelerate the transition the circular economy.

Before creating ‘Circle Economy’ in 2009, van Ogtrop was the CEO of Bols Royal Distilleries and Remy Cointreau.

“We are delighted to have Robert-Jan join our board,” says Alexander Collot d’Escury, CEO of Desso. “He brings with him not only valuable international business experience but also a deep understanding and passion for the circular economy. In 2008, Desso began designing and manufacturing its products according to Cradle to Cradle® principles, designed for eventual recycling in a non-toxic closed loop. It is based on a combined commitment to using healthy materials, developing take back and recycling capabilities, renewable energy usage, water stewardship and social fairness.
